2018 Play card Holiday 10% off till Christmas Sale

2018 Play Card Holiday Sale 10% off till Christmas

We are running a holiday special of %10 off of our play card rates. This offer is only good until December 25th.

The 2018 winter season is coming up fast we have come up with our membership rates as well as other options for those interested in making The MOC their home club. We have a few options available depending on each golfers needs. Our 12 month membership rates have stayed the same with the exception of lowering our member cart rate from $20.50 cents to $18.00 as well as adding the option for a member to play a nine hole rate of $12.00 per round. We have  ten play cards to unlimited play with carts for 12 months.

As we took over the golf course in May 2016 we set out our vision of rebuilding and rebranding one of the best golf clubs in the area. We have made many of the improvements to the club we had promised including and starting with the Irrigation. New Computers, pump house overhaul, new tubing, wiring, heads, lines, everything that we needed to do to start our renovation. Next were the new TifEagle Greens that came from the same sod field that was used to rebuild TPC Sawgrass. We then decided to renovate and redo the fairways with Celebration Bermuda grass. It was a close call and were glad we had Mother Nature help us with a warm fall. While all of this was going on our family had created a great new vision for the clubhouse which many think is one of the nicest bar and restaurant areas at a golf club they have been to. We knew we weren’t done as we had to see how the golf course would play. The dry spring took its toll as our over seed had burned out and our tees and rough areas were really struggling. We had to act fast and hired a company to laser level 75,000 square feet of tees and our driving range. The grow in was a success and we will continue to make additional  improvements to our facilities. Our collars have grown in as well and our feedback from returnees have all given great reviews.

November Rates

With November upon us we have added some new rates and times as we continue moving forward into the winter season. We are really seeing improvements in the golf course and have received really good reviews from those who have come back after their time away this past summer. We have laser leveled 75,000 square feet of tee boxes and sprigged and now have a much better surface to play off of. We will continue to verify and top dress tees to continue creating a great surface. Our collars continue to fill in as we had sprigged and sodded them before Hurricane Irma. We spent the summer seeding the roughs where we had tried to get rid of the weeds and get a Bermuda base and many of the bare spots have filled in as well. We will be overseeing our collars and aprons this winter as well as our par 3 tees and driving range.

November rates

Weekday

Early bird before 7:59 AM $32.71 + tax

8:00 – 10:59 AM $39.25 + tax

Hurricane Irma Update on Golf Course

Hurricane Irma update of course

I must say that the past 10 days have not been easy as we all waited on Hurricane Irma to pick a path as we prepared as best as we could for an unknown target. We are glad that everyone was able to get to safety as we are hoping everyone had minor property damage if any. We know that some were luckier than others and our thoughts and prayers are with our friends and family who may have been in Irmas way. The MOC Clubhouse escaped with minor exterior damage but the golf course was not as lucky. We have lost quite a few grandfather oak trees that very much framed the golf course. At first count there are 54 trees that have either blown over or snapped in 1/2. We had started clean up as we first must wait again for the golf course to dry out. Unfortunately we have taken another 5 inches of rain in the past 48 hours and we can not get on the golf course with any machinery for removal. Heavy machinery would damage many areas out on the course. We have ordered dumpsters for debris clean up as there is a bunch. Hole number 11 has littered the fairway that grass is barely visible. We have had mowers out as the greens , tees and fairways are really in fantastic shape. Grass has really filled in on our collars and roughs so we are getting the golf course back together. Some trees that have fallen have pulled up electric wires for our irrigation so right now we have no power to it.
We will do our best to continue this process and keep everyone up to date as to when we would be able to reopen.
Thank you very much and be safe.

Golf course closed Friday Sept 8- Sept 11.

Course Closed September 8th- September 11th

Today at the end of business we will be closing for the duration of hurricane Irma. Everyone is aware of the potential dangers of the storm and the unknown route Irma is taking. The latest European Model has had Hurricane Irma shift further to the west and we are taking all necessary precautions. We will use this weekend to fully prepare the golf course but most importantly give our staff time to prepare their homes and families for the unknown possibilities of this storm. Lets all hope Irma takes the route of most of your golf games and slices a hard right back into the Atlantic. Any news and updates will be posted to the Moccasin Wallow Facebook page, and also our website at golfthemoc.com

Thank you

Labor Day weekend update

Labor Day

We have just about turned the corner and summer is almost in a rear view mirror. We have been preparing the golf course for the upcoming 2017-2018 winter season and continue to make improvements to the golf course. In the end of April we laser leveled 75,000 square feet of our tee boxes and we have now completed most of our tee box renovations. We will continue to smooth them out as they settle and for those that have been playing you can notice how good they are. We are continuing with the spraying of weeds and getting a better Bermuda base in our rough areas. Our collars have filled in and we will continue to sod our bare areas and smooth them out so that we can have better playing conditions around the greens. Our goal is to get complete coverage of Bermuda grass. Thank you for all of your support.

Have a great holiday weekend.

Golf Course Update and Aeration schedule

Update May 17

We have now laser leveled 70,000 square feet of teeing grounds at The MOC. We have sodded our tee boxes by the sign on every hole that had been laser leveled. We are currently sprigging the rest of the tees and should be done with our grow-in by mid July as long as Mother Nature cooperates.  We are currently verticutting fairways to create a better rough coverage as we have killed almost all of the weeds that had taken over the course. As we continue to water in the rest of the tees we will be cutting them down to be able to provide a great playing surface. Our greens are the some of the best around and our fairways are up there with them. With the dry condition the course is truly great. For the Month of MAY we are running a special of $29.50 plus tax before 12:00 and $24.50 after 12. $21.00 plus tax after 3:00pm . This is our renovation special .

We will be aerating our greens on Monday and Tuesday May 22 and 23. The front nine will be done Monday and the back nine on Tuesday. We are using 1/4 inch tines to pull cores out, blow off the cores,  then we will verticut, topdress, brush the sand , and then roll the greens. This will be minimally invasive and you will barely notice the difference. This is not a normal aerification most golfers are used where it takes a few weeks to recover.

Thank you for your understanding as we continue to improve everyday as our goal is to be one of the best on the gulf coast of Florida.

We have now laser leveled 70,000 square feet of teeing grounds at The MOC. We have some temporary tees but have also sodded tees on every hole. We are currently verticutting fairways to create a better rough coverage as we have killed almost all of the weeds that had taken over the course. Tee Renovations

Tomorrow afternoon we are going to be starting our tee renovation. The company is out of Leesburg and has pushed us ahead of some other courses so that we can get our club done faster. We had already started spraying the weeds on tees that we are going to sprig, some of the tees will be able to be sodded with the existing grass that we have. In total we are hoping that by July our tees are completed with the grow in and our collars will be sodded in some of the weaker areas. Thank you to everyone for understanding that all of this takes time as we continue everyday to improve our golf course. We are hoping to have minimal interruption over the next few weeks.

Summer Reciprocals

We are working on our summer reciprocals for members. We have set up some really good golf courses so far. Below please find a list of the golf courses that are secured and hopefully more to follow soon.

Within the next couple of weeks we should be getting our tees  laser leveled , some stripped and resodded  and some will be sprigged and grown in to continue our renovations. The driving range will be enlarged to create a much larger hitting area. Our collars are starting to come in as well . The weeds were starting to encroach onto the greens and we needed to take immediate action so that they did not take over our new greens.  You can see how much work we have accomplished in a short time and things will only progress as we start to get into the growing season. Feel free to start doing your rain dance as we have received 4/10 of in inch in the last 60 days.

Golf Course update

This rain couldn’t have come at a better time. The last three days and and his crew have sprayed Ronstar (weed preventative ) as well as a granular fertilizer which will no doubt help our fairways grow stronger and fuller. In the next few weeks we are going to start construction on the driving range tee, some golf course tees, as well as our collars. We are going to be stripping grass closest to the green and putting in a strip to keep out any contamination. We have sprayed more weed killer in these areas to prep them for our continued grow in. This is all in our plan to continue to get the golf course one of the best in the Tampa bay, greater Sarasota Bradenton area. We ask you to trust us and be patient as you see how our greens have turned out.
Thank you in advance for all of your support.

March Madness

Our Grand Opening weekend was a great success. We had almost 250 people attend the  as we had a ribbon cutting, live music, fireworks, and the tour van experience.

We are now into the heart of the season. Spring Training games are just a short drive away, the beaches, shopping, but the biggie is NCAA basketball tournament March Madness. Our new MOC Bar and Grill is a great place to watch the games on our large flat screen TVs. We will run food and drink specials throughout the tournament as our “MOC Brew” is always on special.

Plan your day. Golf in the AM and then NCAA tournament action all day long. Play is $49 + tax before 12:00 and included is a hotdog and a draft beer or fountain drink in the MOC Bar and Grill after the round.

Many have said we have the best greens around. The new celebration fairways are also in great shape. We are starting to make our improvements moving forward. We have dried out the golf course to rid the over seed from our roughs so they are a good uniform cut of 1 1/2 inches. We are going to start pulling plugs from our fairways and putting them on our tee boxes to promote growth. Once that is achieved we will strip the grass, laser level the tees and then lay the sod back on it to create a great teeing surface. Our rough is going thru a major weed killer and fertilizer  program to aggressively get the weeds our and transition Bermuda grass back in.

THE SST PURE MACHINE

WHAT IS PURE-ING?

The Tour Truck carries the only PURE-ing machine on Tour and PURE-s the top players’ clubs weekly.

On every major professional tour, the best golfers in the world rely on SST PURE® Shaft Alignment to make sure their golf clubs perform consistently. At their level, they simply cannot afford mis-hit shots caused by their equipment.

Golf shafts are not perfectly straight or perfectly round. Studies have shown that irregularities in a shaft’s structure cause off-line bending and twisting during the golf swing. This causes an increase in shot dispersion or, in irons, inconsistent gapping from club to club. The SST PURE® Shaft Alignment System analyzes the structure of any golf shaft and identifies it’s most stable bending plane, or Neutral- AxisTM. When assembled in the club head, this SST PUREd® result is improved consistency from club to club within your set.

Soft Opening weekend

First we would like to thank everyone for their support during our “soft Opening.” We were grateful that everyone showed up the first day and loves the product we have created. We have decided to keep our rates thru February as we are going to use this month as our “spring training” for our new staff to get acclimated to our new point of sale system. We couldn’t be happier with our new staff. We are in the hospitality business and are making sure that everyone is greeted with a smile the minute they step on property. Our Rates will still be $45 before 12pm/ $35 after 12/ and $30 after 2:30. These prices do include cart. We have created a great value with the golf course and the MOC Bar and Grill and it was great to meet all of our new extended family.

On another note I have been invited to talk on Sirius/XM radio Wednesday night Channel 92 golf show “on Course” with Grand Darby and Brian Crowell and we will be talking about the past, Present, and the future of our vision for The MOC. We hope everyone can tune in and listen Wednesday night at 8pm.

thank you to everyone and we loo forward to seeing you all very soon.

Sunday January 29th

Andy and have staff have been working really hard to get the golf course in exceptional shape. We have given a few tours of the property to give an inside look and the facility is morphing into one of the premier must plays on the west coast of Florida.

Inside the clubhouse Andy and Pedro are getting the kitchen ready for health department inspection and the electrician is working on getting all of our issues behind us bringing the facility into a great working facility so there are no hiccups once we open. The fire safety system should be completed tomorrow morning and called for inspection as well.

We have replaced all of the air conditioning units so the clubhouse will be a great comfortable area to come in and relax for a meal, a drink, or just a place to come hang out. Wifi has been installed as Verizon performed a miracle and ran close to 2500 feet of cable bringing FIOS to the building. DirecTV has installed the satellite dish as well as the boxes and we will be installing the Televisions as well.

Special thank you to Nate Ditchfield for having The MOC on the radio show teeitupradio.com and we look forward to hosting a live show in the near future.

Thank you for your patience and we will continue to update with information moving forward.

Friday the 27th of January

We wanted to keep you in the loop of how things are progressing. In May we purchased the golf course and set out a goal of improvement to the facilities both inside and out.

On The Course

Our golf course superintendent, Andy Roberts, started in late August.  Andy came from River Hills Country Club and Bloomingdale Golfers club as the head superintendent of 2 facilities.  We have known Andy since he started in the industry at the age of 16.

The start of the golf course renovation began with the pump house and irrigation system.  The pump station underwent a major overhaul that started in mid May.  Three pumps were completely rebuilt,  The intake line was cleaned of all sand and debris and we added a new intake screen which will help from any debris from entering the intake line and wet well.

The irrigation boxes were replaced with E Osmac controllers.  The new boxes allow us full access to set irrigation run times remotely from computers and/or phone.  These boxes were installed along with the LYNX irrigation software, which is the most up to date irrigation software on the market.  Along with new controllers and computer software we replaced 350 sprinkler heads that were not functioning properly or completely. One of our main goals is to continue working on sprinkler heads bordering the property lines to keep heads adjusted and from hitting homes surrounding the property.  If you live on property and a sprinkler head is hitting your home please email Andy, our golf course superintendent, at acroberts89@gmail.com and let him know.

Greens–  We re grassed greens with Tif- Eagle Bermuda grass.  We sprigged in late August and have full coverage on all greens.  Number 5 and 7 are a little behind the rest of the greens which is why you will notice a light top dress of sand to help maintain a smooth putting surface.  We are currently mowing at .110 and greens are stimping a 10.5′.

Tees and Fairways –  We  regrassed all tees and fairways with celebration Bermuda.  We started grassing September 6th and are still fine tuning a couple of them throughout the back 9, but are all 90% coverage.  Celebration is a very aggressive growing turf which will help the balls sit up for great lies and quick divot recovery.  We have eliminated the majority of the weeds on all fairways aside from some breakthrough in 13 and 15 fairways.  To eradicate these weeds we our spraying aggressively every 5 days and have eliminated the bulk of them.

We have improved the cart path surfaces as they are actually 8′ feet wide. All of the holes have been filled in with crushed shell and will continue to compact over time.

Whats to come-

The MOC is improving daily and will continue to do so.  We have and will continue our cultural practices to maintain and improve turf conditions.  We have plans to continue improving the club with a regrassing all collars, laser leveling driving range tee and all crowned tees throughout the property, cart path repair, and eradicating weeds in the rough this spring.

Tiger Woods makes big reveal on equipment change

Tiger Woods was using TaylorMade metal woods when he returned to competitive golf in December at the Hero World Challenge.

Soon he’ll have a lot more TaylorMade clubs in his bag.

“After several months of testing and all brand to choose from, the choice is clearly @TaylorMadeGolf. Proud to join the family! – TW,” Woods tweeted.

In joining TaylorMade in a multi-year deal (no financial information was disclosed), Woods will play the company’s metal woods, irons and wedges. Woods will work with the company’s club engineers and have a role in designing and developing a new iron model.

Woods, who returns to the PGA Tour after a 17-month absence on Thursday in the Farmers Insurance Open, still has Nike irons and wedges in his bag. He switched to a Bridgestone golf ball and uses a Scott Cameron putter. Woods started looking into changing his equipment when Nike decided to stop making it.

There is no set date when he will put TaylorMade irons and wedges into play.

“(TaylorMade) is allowing me to take my time, and we’re going to develop my irons and make the irons and the blades that I want and that will fit my game and what I like to look at in. Not only the playing position, but also feel and obviously what shot window I want to hit it through,” Woods said after playing in the Farmers pro-am. “So we’re in a process of building that and it’s going to take a little time. We’re going to take our time and build up an iron that I like not only in the playing position, but how it feels and how it performs.”

We take a look at Tiger’s extensive history of injuries. USA TODAY Sports

Over the past few months, Woods said, he has tested every brand of equipment sent to him. He zeroed in on TaylorMade when he started seeing what the clubs were producing – in the air and on TrackMan, a launch monitor that tracks ball speed, spin, distance, etc.

“I tested with a variety of different companies and I found that TaylorMade and their setup worked the best with my golf ball and allowed me to hit numbers that I hadn’t seen before,” Woods said.

“So it was kind of no-brainer. … I’ll be playing my current Nike irons and the blades I’ve been using for years for right now until TaylorMade builds me the irons that I want. Even then, I still have to go out there and I’ve still got to do the testing at home and do the testing on the numbers but also do testing at Medalist (Golf Club) and hit shots and see how it feels and how it performs through the dirt. That’s going to take a little bit of time as well.”
